About The Master Cutler’s Challenge

The Master Cutler’s Challenge is an entrepreneurial challenge. Companies, organisations and individuals are given £50 by the Master Cutler to show their Entrepreneurial Flair and community spirit for the Master’s nominated charity.

The idea is that each participant grows this into an amount that is a significant multiple of the original funding. All proceeds go to the Charity so they can in turn grow their outreach and the benefit to the local community.

The Master Cutler’s nominated charity for this year’s is below, as is a link to the Cutler’s Hall Preservation Trust which maintains the magnificent Cutlers Hall.

Sheffield Cathedral Schools Singing Programme

The social and educational benefits of music in our state schools has prompted Sheffield Cathedral’s music department to introduce a ground-breaking state school singing programme across the Sheffield Diocese. The 2024 Master Cutlers’ Challenge is raising funds to underpin the expansion of the Sheffield Cathedral Schools Singing Programme (SCSSP) and enable state school pupils from some of South Yorkshire’s most deprived areas to develop their musical, social interaction and life skills.

In short, support for the singing programme will have a major impact on underprivileged youngsters who are in desperate need of support, enrichment and encouragement as they go through the most formative years of their lives.

The Cutlers' Hall Preservation Trust

The Cutlers’ Hall Preservation Trust is a charity permanently associated with the Master Cutlers’ Challenge due to its responsibility for the Grade 2* listed Cutlers’ Hall.

The primary objective of the charity is to preserve and maintain, for the benefit of the townspeople of Sheffield in the County of York and for the nation at large, the historical, architectural and constructional heritage of the Cutlers’ Hall.

All funds raised go directly to the preservation of this impressive and unique building.
